Developer to add apartments at Miami-Dade farmers market
The 5-story Redland Market Village in southern Miami-Dade County.

The owner of Redland Market Village in southern Miami-Dade County has significantly revised plans for an apartment complex next to the farmers market and flea market.

Redland Market Village LLC, managed by Jose Infante in Miami, filed an administrative modification with county officials for the 22.5-acre property at 24651 and 24800 Packing House Road, plus 13649 and 13593 S.W. 248th St. The site has a roughly 130,000-square-foot flea market on the north side of the property and a large parking lot. It’s located just west of U.S. 1 in the Princeton neighborhood, not far from the agricultural community in Redland.

In 2019, the property owner filed plans to develop the site and was ultimately approved for 490 units. However, no construction took place.

The new plan for Redland Market Village calls for 355 apartments, 12,000 square feet of commercial space and 536 parking spaces, with 383 spaces in parking garages and the rest surface parking. Ten percent of the parking spaces would have electric vehicle charging available.

As before, the development would occur in the parking lot and the flea market building would remain.

The project would consist of four apartment buildings of five stories each, a three-story parking garage, a clubhouse and a pool. Each apartment building would have 1,400 square feet of interior amenity space.

The apartments would range from 650 to 1,121 square feet. There would be 111 one-bedroom units, 204 two-bedroom units, and 40 three-bedroom units.

There’s been a development boom in southern Miami-Dade as the lower rents in the area have attracted residents who have been priced out of the more expensive urban core. The county is building a bus rapid transit system along U.S. 1 to serve the growing population there.
